Profit with a Purpose

Join us as we open our doors on our night off for this amazing opportunity to hear from local businesses that have a higher purpose than just profit.

In recent decades, the idea that for-profit business models exist primarily for the benefit of their owners is gradually giving way to concepts of social enterprise and B Corporations. These rising for-profit business models have unique features that set them apart from each other and from traditional businesses. But how do we tell the difference between these different models, and what do they mean for the business owner?

Join us on November 28th from 6pm till 8pm to hear from social enterprise and B Corporation entrepreneurs as they discuss the what’s and why’s behind these alternative for-profit business models.

Our panel includes representatives from:

Big Burrito Restaurant Group
Thread International
Optimus Technologies
52nd St Market

*Light fare and one drink ticket included*

Author Joyce Tremel book signing & discussion

Joyce Tremel is the author of 3 incredible books about the brewing industry right here in Pittsburgh!  The Tangled Up In Brew Series features 3 books "TO BREW OR NOT TO BREW" "TANGLED UP IN BREW" and "A ROOM WITH A BREW"

We are thrilled to have her at the brewery to meet her fans, throw back some beers & discuss the books in more detail.  Come learn about she-brewer Max & her adventures in opening a brewery in Lawrenceville and the mysteries that surround her life.

Her flash fiction has appeared in Mysterical-e, and her non-fiction has been published in the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police magazine.

Her debut novel, TO BREW OR NOT TO BREW was an RT Book Reviews "Top Pick" and was nominated for the RT 2015 Reviewers’ Choice Award for best amateur sleuth.

The second book in the series TANGLED UP IN BREW, was also an RT Book Reviews "Top Pick" and has been chosen by Kings River Life as a Best Book of 2016. It was the winner of the 2016 Reviewers' Choice Award for Best Amateur Sleuth.

A ROOM WITH A BREW, the third book in the series was  released October 3, 2017.

Joyce is a native Pittsburgher, has two grown sons, and lives in a suburb of the city with her husband. When coming up with the idea for this series, she thought her big city with the small town feel would be the perfect setting for Max's brew pub. She hopes "yinz" guys agree!
